Southwest swept its Ozark 7 Conference games Tuesday night in exciting fashion on Pink Out and the varsity has put itself in a situation to play for league championship for the 4th straight season.

The Lady Trojans won the JV game after trailing 24-19 in the first set, but rallied for a victory behind an ace by sophomore Kristen Hendrix. Southwest won the second set easily 25-8. Sophomore Hailey Benninger (7 kills), Maggie Robbins (6 aces, 4 digs and 4 kills) and Heather Windes (8 for 8 serving with 6 assists). The JV girls are now 6-6-2 with five games remaining.

In the varsity game, Southwest won the first set 25-15. The second set came down to the final point and because of an official's decision, the Lady Trojans had to win the 25th point twice. Setters Jaime Shrum (10 assists, 8 kills and 3 aces) and Brianna Learned (9 for 9 serving and 11 digs, 4 kills and 3 assists) led the way.

Southwest trails Purdy by one game in the conference standings, but the two teams still have to play Oct. 9, so that game could decide the league championship.

The Lady Trojans play their final home game Thursday against Forsyth. Games begin at 5:00 and it's Senior Night. The brief ceremony takes place between the JV and varsity game around 6:30 or 6:45. Come out and see Jaime Shrum, Baylea Ford, Savana Leonhardt and Karla Catron play their final home game.
