Galena Sweeps Lady Trojans in Volleyball

Southwest lost two closely contested matches with Galena Monday night in Washburn. All 4 sets came down to the final points, but the Bears held on the for the wins. The Lady Trojans play their final game of the season Thursday night against Exeter. It's Family Night, and the brief ceremony will take place after 7th-grade game at around 6:30 or 6:45.

Spikers Tie, Lose to Wheaton in Volleyball

The 8th-graders played maybe their best match in two seasons before falling to Wheaton 25-18, 25-23 Thursday night in Washburn. The girls have a 1-9 record going into Saturday's tournament at Purdy where they play the host Eagles, Wheaton, Verona, and Exeter. The 7th-graders tied Wheaton 25-23, 16-25 for the second time this season.

The Lady Trojan volleyball team split its games with Purdy Tuesday. The 8th-graders lost a 3-set heartbreaker 25-22 in the deciding match. The 7th-graders won. The teams return to action Thursday against Wheaton. 

Lady Trojan Volleyball Sweeps Exeter

Congratulations to the Lady Trojans volleyball teams for sweeping Exeter Thursday night, March 8, in two exciting, 3-set matches. The 7th-graders rallied from a 20-12 deficit in the third set, behind Cammi Uthe and Emily Wilson. The 8th-graders won the first set before losing 28-26 in the second, but picked up their first win of the season by taking the final set 25-16. 

Ozark 7 Math and Science Contest

Volleyball Team Ties, Loses to Wheaton

The Lady Trojans tied and lost to Wheaton in middle school volleyball Tuesday night, March 6. The 7th-graders won the first set 26-24 and lost the second set 25-21. The 8th-graders lost 25-13, 25-22, but played a strong Bulldog team to a close second set. The girls return to action Thursday. March 7, and Friday, March 8, at Exeter and at Hurley.

Academic Teams Compete in Ozark 7 Tourney

Congratulations to the Southwest academic teams for competing well in the Ozark 7 Conference Tournament Wednesday (Feb. 28) at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin. The 7th-graders, led by Ethan Recio, beat Verona and Purdy, but also lost to Verona and Purdy, and finished 3rd overall, missing out on second place by one question. The 8th-graders, led by Any Reeves, placed fourth, defeating Exeter, but losing to Verona twice. Other members of the team included: Elizabeth Ross, Molly Atkinson, Jasmine Williams, Jessica Munday, Cloe Brattin, Traven Walkingstick, and Christian Long.

The middle school volleyball team split its games with Verona Thursday night, February 22. The 7th-graders won, while the 8th-graders lost. The teams return to action Friday, March 2 at Purdy.

Southwest Splits Academic Matches With Purdy

The Trojan middle school academic teams split their matches with Purdy Wednesday (Nov. 29). The older group, led by Amy Reeves (13 questions), won 190-80, while the younger team lost 170-60.

Shell Knob Sweeps Academic Matches

Shell Knob won both academic matches Thursday (Nov. 30). The 8th-graders lost 290-150 and the 7th-graders fell 160-110. The team is now off until after the holidays when they face Exeter at home on Wednesday, Jan. 17.

Middle School Volleyball Practice Starts December 5

Volleyball practice for middle schoolers begins Tuesday, Dec. 5. The team, which is open to 7th- and 8th-grade girls, practices from 3:30 to 5:00 in Pit.
