MS Track had a strong showing from the girls over the long weekend!

Thursday night at Cassville:

Emily Wilson pulled out some amazing feats winning gold in both the 200m and 400m and then coming from 7th place in the 4x400 and passing all other runners to finish 1st!

The 4x400 team includes Emily Wilson, Cally Bowyer, Anna Church, and Alexis Raucstadt.

Cally Bowyer also placed 3rd in the 1600m.

Alexis Raucstadt also placed 2nd in the 800m and 4th in the high jump

Monday at Hollister:

Emily Wilson placed 1st in the 200m and 400m (despite hurting muscles)

The 4x400 team placed 2nd with an amazing showing from all 4 girls

Cally Bowyer placed 3rd in triple jump and 3rd in the 1600m

Alexis Raucstadt placed 2nd in the 800m

 

For the boys:

Thursday night at Cassville:

Otis Rainer placed 4th in the triple jump and 800m

Daniel McIlvene placed 2nd in the shot put with the new MS record of 40'2"

Garret Hill placed 4th in discus

Monday at Hollister:

Otis Rainer placed 4th in the long jump

Zak Starr placed 4th in the 400m

Robert Humphries placed 4th in the 1600

MS Track Results from East Newton

Girls placed 5th overall and the boys placed 4th at the East Newton track meet on Tuesday, April 9.


Alexis Rauschstadt got 2nd place in the 800 with a time of 3:03.2, 3rd in the 100 with a time of 14.3 and 3rd in the high jump with a height of 3'10".

Cally Bowyer placed 4th in the 1600 with a time of 6:48 and 2nd in the triple jump with a distance of 26'2"

Emily Wilson placed 1st in the 400 with a time of 1:04.9 and 1st in the 200 with a time of 28.8

 

The Girls 4x400 relay team (Anna Church, Emily Wilson, Cally Bowyer, and Alexis Rauschstadt) put in an amazing effort coming out of dead last and finishing 1st with a time of 4:51.8

 

Evan Ennes placed 5th in the hurdles with a time of 20.7 and 4th in the long jump with a distance of 11'11"

Ezra Sprowes placed 4th in the 400 with a time of 1:09.5 and 4th in the high jump with a height of 4'4"

Robert Humphries placed 6th in the 1600 (mile) with a time of 6:24.9 

Garrett Hill placed 3rd in the shot put with a distance of 28'7"

 

The 7th grade 4x400 relay (Robert Humphries, Jordan Long, Evan Ennes, and Eugene Rainier) finished 5th with a time of 5:07 great effort boys!

 

Zak Starr finished 3rd in the 400 with a time of 1:01 and 5th in the long jump with a height of 5'0" 

Otis Rainer placed 2nd in the 800 with a time of 2:28.8, 5th in the long jump with a distance of 15'7.5" and 1st in the triple jump with his personal best of 35'0"

Daniel McIlvene placed 2nd in shot put with a distance of 35'9" and 1st in discus with a distance of 91'8" 

 

The 8th grade 4x400 relay (Otis Rainer, Zak Starr, Colton Pendergraft, and Zak Corwin) placed 4th with their team best time of 4:19.8

6th Grade Band Wins 1st Place

The 6th and 7th grade Beginning Band received 1st place and a I rating at their first SWCL Band Competition Saturday, April 6. All comments received were exemplary. Congratulations band members!

Junior Volleyfest Saturday, March 16

Southwest Middle School will host Junior Volleyfest Saturday, March 16, 2019. The event, which starts at 9:00 a.m. in the high school gymnasium, will include teams from Wheaton, Golden City, Purdy, Exeter and Galena. Bracket play begins at noon with the championship at 2 p.m. The top two teams will receive awards.

Trojans Finish 2nd at Shell Knob Tournament

The Southwest Middle School Academic Team placed 2nd in the 12-team Shell Knob Tournament last week. After losing to Willard in its opening match, the Trojans defeated Fairview, Dadeville, Shell Knob, and Weaubleau to win their 6-school pool. Shell Knob defeated Southwest in the championship match.  The team, which finished the season with 11 wins and 9 losses, was made up of Charlie Pippin, Tristan Fry, Natalie Senko, Clark Brinkman, Rachel Willer, Braden Garcia and Madison Snow and coached by Steve Voyak. 

Academic Team at SWCL Conference Meet

The academic team won 2 of 3 matches at the SWCL Conference meet at Galena Tuesday. After losing to Crane is the quarterfinals, the Trojans, led by Charlie Pippin and Bryce Hammers, defeated Galena and Billings to win the consolation bracket and 5th place overall. In its first year in the SWCL, Southwest finished the season with a record of 5 wins and 6 losses. The team has two dates remaining: Feb. 12 at Shell Knob for a dual meet and Feb. 23 at the 16-team Shell Knob Tournament. The team has an overall record of 7 wins and 7 losses.

Academic Team Results Against Cassville

The Trojans split their matches at Cassville Thursday, winning 190-150 and losing 230-90. In the victory, the team of Charlie Pippin, Tristan Rhodes, Natalie Senko, and Bryce Hammers rallied from 70-10 deficit. The team returns to action Tuesday in the SWCL Conference Tournament at Galena. The Trojans are seeded 5 and open against Crane. They play matches at 5, 6 and 7 p.m.

Scholar Bowl Update

The Trojans lost 2 SWCL matches (Blue Eye 180-140 and Spokane 270-140) Tuesday. Southwest finished the regular season with a 3-5 record. The team takes a break for the holidays now, but when we return, the Trojans play a home-and-home with Cassville (Jan. 10 and 24) and the SWCL Tournament at Galena on Jan. 12.

Academic Team Wins Four Straight Matches

After defeating Galena and Purdy Tuesday night, the Southwest academic team won four straight matches. The Trojans beat Galena 130-50 and Purdy 160-90. The team is now 3-3 in the SWCL Conference play. Next up: Spokane and Blue Eye Tuesday.


Academic Team Splits Matches with Shell Knob

Trailing 100-20, the Southwest scholar bowl team rallied for a 250-180 win and a split of its matches with Shell Knob Monday. The second Southwest team lost 160-100. The Trojans return to SWCL Conference action Tuesday against both Purdy and Galena. Special thanks to Senior Lacey Reeves for reading questions and serving as a competition official.
