Third-Party Websites

Southwest R-5 School District contracts with third-party website operators to offer online programs solely for the benefit of our students and school systems. In accordance with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act), Southwest R-5 School District acts as the parent's agent and consents to the collection of kids' information on the parent's behalf. This collection of information is limited to the education context. Below is a list of third-party website operators that are used that require logins that may require collecting a minimal amount of identifiable information. Most will collect first name, last name, SWR5 email address, and grade level of the students. The three exceptions to this are Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), and our student information system (Tyler SISK12), and Special Education Management (SpedTrack), which collect extra student demographic information required for student record keeping. We have also contracted with Gaggle, a safety management company which helps detect inappropriate language, inappropriate images, and danger to self/others in student email and Google documents.
