VOLLEYBALL UPDATE: The Lady Trojans volleyball team finished 7th of 10 teams in the Galena Tournament. The girls defeated Verona, tied Blue Eye, and lost to Galena and Fordland in pool play. Despite playing without two starters, the Lady Trojans put up a good fight against Hurley before falling in three sets. Senior Lyric Bernard was named to the All-Tournament team. The girls play at Billings today.
VOLLEYBALL UPDATE: Thomas Jefferson defeated Southwest in 4 sets Thursday night in Joplin. Highlights: Juliauna Sierra had 24 receptions (with only 2 errors!), 4 kills, 11 digs, and an ace, Lyric Bernard had 26 receptions and 18 digs, and Riley Flippo had 7 kills, 17 digs, and was 14 for 14 serving with an ace. TJ also won the JV game. The varsity is back in action Saturday with 4 games in pool play at the Galena Tournament beginning at 8 a.m.

Highlights: Juliauna Sierra made all 19 of her receptions, Laura Jean Henry was 8 for 8 serving with 2 aces and 13 assists. Marissa Freeman was 7 for 7 serving with 3 aces and 5 kills. Monett also won the JV game. Olivia Hnem had 7 receptions and was 6 for 6 serving and Kaycee Patterson had five digs. The girls play Thomas Jefferson Thursday.

VOLLEYBALL UPDATE: Blue Eye defeated Southwest in four sets Monday in a SWCL Conference volleyball game. Some highlights: ** Kaleigh Tull and Laura Jean Henry combined to make all 25 of their serves. KT added six kills and a block and LJ had 24 assists. **Riley Flippo made 21 of 22 serves but ended her serving streak at 52 in a row. ** Missy Freeman had 8 kills, 5 receptions, 4 digs, 2 blocks and 2 aces ** Juliauna Sierra made 16 of 19 receptions and added 19 digs ** Lyric Bernard had 20 receptions and 23 digs. The JV also lost to Blue Eye. Olivia Swafford had 2 kills and a block, Olivia Hnem had 12 digs and an ace and Lily Barnett had 2 kills and an ace. The girls play Monett at home in a non-conference game tonight.

Some highlights: Missy Freeman had 6 kills, 5 digs a block, and was 9 of 10 serving with 4 aces, Juliauna Sierra had 3 kills and 20 receptions, Lyric Bernard had 21 receptions, Laura Henry had 14 assists, 10 digs, 2 kills and was 10 for 10 serving, Riley Flippo was 7 of 7 serving with 2 aces and extended her consecutive serve streak to 37. For the JV Olivia Hnem had 16 receptions, Kylee Rhodes added 7 and Olivia Swafford had 2 kills. The girls return to action on Monday at Blue Eye.

Some highlights: Laura Jean Henry was 12 for 12 serving with aces and added 17 assists and 2 digs. For the season, she is 88 for 88 serving. Juliauna Sierra had 5 kills, 14 receptions, and 15 digs. Riley Flippo was 9 for 9 serving and added 10 receptions (and no errors!) and 8 digs. The girls are back in action on Monday at Gentry, Ark.

SOUTHWEST DOWNS VERONA IN VOLLEYBALL: The Lady Trojans defeated Verona in 4 sets Tuesday to earn their first victory of the season. The girls were led by Junior setter Laura Jean Henry who was 22 for 22 serving with 7 aces. She also added 32 assists, 15 digs and 6 kills. Other highlights: Missy Freeman had 14 kills, Kaleigh Tull was 12 for 12 serving with 4 aces and added 6 kills. Lyric Bernard has 28 receptions, 31 digs, and 3 kills. Brooklynn Slye was 12 of 13 serving with 22 digs, 13 receptions, and 6 kills. Juliauna Sierra had 24 digs, 15 receptions, and 4 kills. Riley Flippo was 11 of 12 serving with 13 digs, 2 kills, and an assist. The JV tied Verona rallying from a 23-15 deficit in the second set as Lilian Barnett made 10 consecutive serves and Olivia Swafford contributed 2 huge kills.

Kaleigh Tull was 6 of 6 serving with 4 kills and Missy Freeman was 12 of 12 serving with 3 aces and 3 kills. Laura Henry had 13 assists, 11 digs, and made all 10 of her serves. Marionville also won the JV match. The Lady Trojans play East Newton on Monday and Verona on Tuesday.
