Good afternoon, Parents and Guardians,
Although it is still cold outside, the sunshine is very bright, welcomed, and beautiful. I hope that the snow is starting to melt at your home as it is here in Seligman.
I told you at the beginning of the week to watch for communication related to 2022-2023 district calendar choice. Click on the following link to connect to the google form titled “2022-2023 Calendar Options Parent Form.” You will be able to choose from two different calendars plus provide input if you would like. Although you have to login to complete the form, email addresses are not collected so I will not be able to respond individually to your input or questions. Southwest School District COVID-19 Testing Procedure
For the last year or so we have been fortunate enough to provide our students with free, in-house, Covid-19 testing which has helped to slow the spread of Covid-19 in our area. We were also fortunate enough to have the means to provide this free, convenient service to our community members and the families of our students. We have recently been informed that with the National test kit shortage we will no longer be receiving tests. With regret, we need to inform our families that we will no longer be able to test community members nor student family members. The tests that we have on hand will have to be used strictly for our students and faculty members. We will no longer be able to test family members, you will have to make other arrangements if your family needs to be tested.
As the national shortage issues resolve and our test kits are replenished, we will be happy to resume testing for the community and family members. We will stay in communications with all of you as information is provided to us.

NEW DATE FOR BAND PICTURES
**Due to a scheduling conflict the Band pictures will be rescheduled for Wednesday, February 2, 2002 at 8:30 in the middle school gym.
If your band student needs an extra picture form, just have them stop by the office.

The Southwest Board of Education and Administration are aware of the TikTok Challenge planned for tomorrow December 17th across the nation and will have a police presence on campus tomorrow.

Good afternoon!
I have attached letters that have been emailed out to two classes today regarding two teachers that have not received full certification, yet. They have both been working their tails off to achieve full certification and are very close to achieving it. They're both great assets to our school and I'm extremely pleased to have them here!
If we happen to have any teachers go on maternity leave in the future, these will be sent out to parents of those students, also.

Please see the attached ESSA notifications. Please feel free to call the office with questions. We are welcoming home a Trojan, Ms. Snyder, a SW graduate! Mr. Ives is working hard in the classroom while finishing up!

MS Academic Team Falls to Kirbyville, Sparta: After falling in their opening match to Kirbyville, the Trojans found themselves losing to Sparta 50-0 early in Match 2 but rallied losing on the final question in a hotly contested competition. The team is now off until the SWCL Conference meet (which is here in Washburn) on Saturday, Jan. 8.

Good morning.
At approximately 7:25 am this morning, a pickup truck rear ended a car, pushing it into the back of bus number 5 (normally bus number 1). This happened on highway 90 in front of the Middle School Gym. Thankfully, all of the students on the bus and the driver appear to be ok and were given the go-ahead to be dropped off at school.

Yesterday, all school districts in Missouri received a letter from the Attorney General, Eric Schmitt. I have consulted with legal counsel regarding the Board of Education's authority to adopt rules and regulations related to communicable diseases (Mo State Statute 167.191). Our goal is to keep students and staff members safe and healthy, and to keep as many students learning, in-seat, as possible. Our Board of Education has approved our COVID-19 mitigation protocol via our District SRCSP (Mo State Statute 171.011) and reviews the plan frequently to ensure our efforts are effective at keeping staff members and students safe in accordance with our policies.
Based on current rulings in the state of Missouri, the Southwest R-V School District is not ordering or enforcing students to quarantine or isolate from the public due to COVID-19. As we did prior to the pandemic, we will partner with parents/guardians to exclude students from the school setting who have or who are liable to transmit any known illness.

MS Academic Team Loses 2 SWCL Matches: The Trojans made a furious comeback from 80 points down against Blue Eye Tuesday night (Dec. 7) but the Bulldogs held on for a 140-110 victory in SWCL Scholar Bowl action. Spokane easily defeated Southwest in the second match. The team returns to action next Tuesday in a triangular event against Sparta and Kirbyville.
