SOUTHWEST DEFEATS SHELL KNOB IN MS SCHOLAR BOWL MATCH: The Trojans won an epic thriller 180-170 at Shell Knob Thursday in Scholar Bowl. Down to the final set of questions and the score 160-all, Southwest gets the toss-up (answer: Huckleberry Finn) to get the lead 170-160. Leaving 3 bonus questions, Shell Knob gets the first one (answer: United Arab Emirates). Neither team gets the second bonus (answer: Jordan, the country), so we remain tied, final question. The final hint is the holy city and we answer Jerusalem. Winner, winner, chicken dinner. Southwest 180, Shell Knob 170. Wow! Epic is the right word, maybe clutch. Congratulate team members Brielee Jones, Conner Jones, McKinley Miller, Natalie Corn, and Bridget Outhouse if you see them.
